If you are looking for work, but an 8-hour job doesn't fit you because of your many commitments, then a part time job might be just right for you. Basically, part time jobs require less commitment on the employee's part. This means you need not complete the full-time working hours that a company usually asks from its employees. And since a part time job requires fewer working hours every week, you can also expect that this type of job happens to pay less than what it usually pays to full-time workers.

Part time jobs are mostly popular among students who intend to earn extra money, support their college education, or merely gain some working experience. This type of job offer is best for them since it gives them sufficient time for their school works.

Basically, part time sales jobs involve marketing of either goods or services. Sometimes, door-to-door promotion of products is also part of the load. This kind of job is more or less recommended to individuals who are good communicators and have great people skills.

2. Part Time Call Centre Jobs
Being a call centre agent is the most popular part time call centre job. Usually, the workplace is a room full of computers. With a headset on, the job basically deals with receiving (or transmitting) requests from clients via telephone. Essentially, the job is almost the same with sales since an agent's main goal is to support a product or provide answers to clients' inquiry regarding the product; however, it is more of an office type of job.

3. Part Time Word Processing Jobs
Part time word processing jobs are somehow similar with secretarial jobs. Its main job description essentially requires creation of documents, usually text-based, with the use of a computer. Examples of the said documents are mailing labels, letters, manuals, memos, proposals, reports, and the likes.

4. Part Time Customer Service Jobs
The same with sales jobs, part time customer service jobs are in need of employees who have good people skills since they will serve as the company's front line whenever there are customer complaints and inquiries (also partly the same with call centre jobs).

Part time office administration job deals with setting business activities in a day-to-day basis. Usually, this type of job is secretarial in nature. As the name implies, part time hairdressing jobs primarily deal with hairstyling service offers to customers. Sadly, not everyone is entitled to apply in this type of job because most salons require a "hairdressing diploma" from their applicants. But who knows, maybe they are in need of assistants who can help around or run errands.

Part time waiter staff jobs are offered in businesses such as bars and restaurants. Basically, waiters and waitresses are the ones who attend to the customers' needs and serve food and drinks within the dining area upon their clients' request.

Part time bar staff jobs are somehow similar with part time waiter staff jobs. But unlike the latter who mostly hops from one table to another, bar staff can be found mostly behind the bars, serving food and drinks to their customers by the bar. These people are usually called bartenders.

9. Part Time Store Person Jobs and Part Time Shop Assistant Jobs
Part time store person jobs are popular among convenience stores and supermarkets. The job description of a store person deals primarily with assisting customers in selecting products or dealing with their complaints; cleaning, stocking, and restocking of the sales area; and organizing delivery dates of merchandises.

The same description may also suit a shop assistant's responsibility since these two jobs are of the same nature. But if the shop is service-oriented, it is more likely that the job is to simply assist the employer or maybe run errands once in a while. For both jobs, multi-tasking and alertness are a must.

These are just some common examples of part time jobs nowadays, and it is up to you to choose in which field you will be more useful. But before even deciding to apply for any part time position, you should keep in mind that unlike those who work full time, a part time employee is not entitled to common benefits that a company offers like health and retirement insurances. So, don't be surprised if you think you are not getting all the needed benefits a regular employee has.
